Keep my commandments Pt. 2
Picking up on other things that Jesus commanded us to do.
"Leave your offering there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and present your offering (Matthew 5:24). Jesus seems to be more interested in our interpersonal relationships than he is in our religious activity. In other words (mine) "Fix things with your brother before you show up on Sunday looking all pious and spiritual."
"Make friends quickly with your opponent at law while you are with him on the way, so that your opponent may not hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the officer, and you be thrown into prison" (Matthew 5:25). Now, we might not be involved in a lot of law suits, but if and when we are, do we have this attitude, or do we move heaven and earth to make sure we win? "Make friends with your opponent." Sounds kinda like "Love your enemies" (but we don't get to that command for another 20 verses or so).
Just a reminder: Jesus said "teaching them to observe all that I commanded you" (Matthew 28:20). Are we teaching people to obey these commands as part of fulfilling the great commision? If not, why not?
